Challenging Behaviour

What is a Learning Disability?

Challenging behaviour can be defined as behaviours of such frequency, intensity, or duration that the individual or other people’s safety is at risk. Various disabilities and complex needs are included, where people may exhibit physically and verbally aggressive or self-harm behaviour.

How Do We Help?

Boom care offers bespoke care and support for people with complex care needs, including challenging behaviour, learning and physical disabilities, health needs (including epilepsy), mental health needs (including personality disorder), bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and emotional and behavioural difficulties.

At Boom care, we safeguard people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties while encouraging their individual choice. We use professional risk management and innovative ways of managing challenging behaviours. By precise multi-agency risk assessment and strategy, we ensure high levels of supervision, allowing for the safety of all parties and consistent client inclusion.

Proactive Strategies: Keeping an open mind adjusting the individual’s environment and communication methods help us minimise risk.

Reactive Strategies: through reassurance and distraction techniques, we can respond effectively to behavioural issues when they occur.

Personal Support
We collaborate with social workers and personal advisors to engage in joint reviews and find better ways of supporting the individual while working in unison with their pathway plan. We offer a variety of therapies and counselling support to help care leavers and individuals overcome difficulties they have experienced. Our personalised services develop self-confidence and self-esteem with the individuals we support. In turn, we are contributing and helping them to live independent and sustainable lives.
